OS Map – Measuring tool

  1. Click to open the map.

  2. Using the + icon in the bottom right-hand corner, zoom into the area you wish to measure.

  3. Click on the three lines on a dark blue background in the right-hand corner.

  4. Select 'MEASURE' from the drop-down list.

  5. A pop-up appears with options. Select the 'Measure Distance' icon.

  6. Select the unit you wish to use from the dropdown menu.

  7. Click on the map at the starting point of your measurement.

  8. From this starting point, a line is generated annotated with the distance.

  9. As you move the line, the distance from the starting point is shown.

  10. Click on the destination. The total distance is shown.

  11. For distances using multiple measurements, e.g. on a winding road, you can click on multiple stop-off points and then continue to draw the line. The total distance to your final destination is shown at that destination.
